Latest NewsOMD US Elevates Monica Karo to President, Integrated AccountsKaro to Lead US and Global Apple, Nissan Accounts April 24, 2008OMD today announced that Monica Karo has been elevated to the position of President of Integrated Accounts for OMD USA, from her previous position as Managing Director of OMD West. In this newly created role, Monica will lead the Apple and Nissan accounts in the US and globally, reporting to Page Thompson, CEO of OMD North America. She will continue to oversee all West Coast accounts on an interim basis until a replacement is named, as well as remain on the US Operating Council. "As our clients’ businesses evolve, it has become critical to expand our integrated account servicing and to focus on our clients’ needs on a global basis," said Page Thompson, CEO of OMD North America. "For Apple and Nissan, the US holds the largest portion of their international business and there’s no question that Monica, with her expertise and experience with these brands, is the perfect person for the job." The creation of this role is part of OMD’s corporate restructuring to ensure the most effective and customized servicing of client accounts possible in an ever-changing media and consumer landscape. A veteran leader in the media industry for more than 25 years, Monica joined OMD upon its inception in 2002 from TBWA\Chiat\Day, where she had risen in rank to Chief Media Officer. She has been recognized by Advertising Age as an industry leader and was the first media executive to receive the Los Angeles Advertising Agency Association’s Leader of the Year award. Prior to her roles within Omnicom, Monica became a partner in her own agency in 1985, where she assumed the responsibilities of Director of Media, Research, Finance and Business Administration. The agency is now worth $75 million and her name remains on the door. |
