Ernie Simon Moves to Newly Created Role in April

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Omnicom Group's OMD has poached Ernie Simon from WPP's Mindshare to be its chief strategy officer in the U.S. Mr. Simon will start in the newly created role in April.

Alan Cohen, U.S. CEO of OMD, said the role was created to help the agency meet the challenges of a worsening economy. "As OMD evolves its product and services to meet the needs of a difficult economy and complicated media landscape, it has become apparent that this new role is an essential addition to our...management team," said Mr. Cohen in a statement.

In this role, Mr. Simon will be tasked with providing guidance for OMD clients who are looking to launch and re-launch their brands.

Mr. Simon previously directed strategic operations for Mindshare in North America.
